TWINSAVER HONOURS REAL WOMEN WITH REAL STORIES AHEAD OF WOMEN’S MONTH

Twinsaver, a popular household brand and voted South Africa’s favourite toilet paper brand*, has launched their #CelebrateWomen campaign with the objective of celebrating strong, courageous and inspirational women.

The new Twinsaver special edition Twin Ply toilet paper packaging has been specially designed to highlight breast cancer awareness during women’s month. The special edition Floral Fresh pack has a lightly scented pink core, designed to gently release a fresh fragrance. The brand is South African and represents the confidence shown by 18 inspiring women.

One of those women is Georgina Mushi, a woman with a quirky sense of humour and breast cancer survivor who has shared her story with us and we wish to share it with you for a possible write up/feature or Q&A.
Georgina, a mother of 3 boys, discovered a lump in her breast in 2002. Thirteen years later, she decided to go to Helen Joseph to get it checked out. The lump had grown and she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Georgina is ambitious and describes herself as a big dreamer but being the eldest of her siblings, she has always been boxed into being the responsible one.

“Being the firstborn in a traditional home made me a strong person naturally. I guess Cancer just perfected my strength even more.”

Georgina received a lot of support from her family and they were always available to assist in many ways. She advises those who undergo the process to mourn the cancer, feel the pain, get depressed, shut the world out and cry as much as they want – to just FEEL.

“When they feel, they have mourned enough, they must pick themselves up and remember life does not stop there.”

She says her journey has taught her to love herself and her scars and to be proud of herself, to be proud to be a Woman. Georgina treasures her sons because they keep her young at heart all the time and there is never a dull moment. Georgina’s sons have a naughty side and they often tease Georgina on how she cannot smile or laugh without almost having her eyes closed.

“I can’t laugh or smile without closing my eyes. It used to frustrate me and I would avoid taking photos but I’ve accepted it as a unique part of who I am and my personality. (Chuckles)”

It’s light-hearted moments like these that encourage Georgina to live on the funnier side of life and not take herself so seriously. In keeping with her youthful personality, her favourite quote is from popular children’s book author, Dr. Seuss: “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
